Symptoms
- Teeth seems to be longer in appearance
- They tend to shift from its position or feel loosened
- Teeth form new spaces between them.
- The gums appear red and swollen
- Bleed on brushing
- Detach from teeth and form pockets.
- There is a feeling of bad taste in mouth and persistent bad breath.
How does it start
- A sticky film called Plaque containing harmful bacteria form on our teeth.
- When plaque hardens it forms Tartar or Calculus, which attack the gums and the supporting bone responsible for holding teeth in place.
- Tartar can only be removed by a Dentist.
Treatment
Fortunately, it can be treated. Earlier the treatment, the less severe the damage.
Brushing and flossing on a daily basis to remove plaque as it forms Scaling and root planing done by the Dentist to remove the hard deposits on the surface of the roots of the teeth and around the gum line.
Prevention is very important. It can be achieved by returning regularly to your Dentist for professional cleaning and following home care instructions.
